It’s finally here! The new Mad Men collection is officially out at Banana Republic and all I can say is hats off to the designers. I won’t be able to see the pieces in public until this weekend (do to a hectic work schedule) but I am drooling over the leopard print trench coat and the Betty dress. Absolutely yummy! Inspired by the collection I shopped my own wardrobe yesterday to come up with this outfit.
While I have every intention of purchasing some of the pieces I mentioned before, I cannot afford the whole collection, so I had to be creative. With a few basic pieces it is very simply to put together a 1960′s inspired look. Here I am wearing a basic black cami from Banana Republic Outlet, some slim black capris also from Banana Republic Outlet, and a light pink cardigan from the J. Crew Outlet. I am a firm believer that accessories make the outfit. So I added some simple studs and a gold bangle from Kate Spade. Finally a pink and black scarf tied around the neck and some nude peep toe pumps complete the look. All of these items have been in my wardrobe for some time and because I love a good deal, each piece was either a gift or was bought on sale. In all I guarantee the whole look is under $100 dollars.
It can be difficult sometimes to be completely satisfied with your wardrobe especially if you don’t shop often. My last shopping trip was in May. However, if you have some great sources of inspiration, like the show Mad Men and you know the look your going for, shopping your own closet will be much easier.
Anyone else inspired by the new Banana Republic Collection? Let me know your thoughts. I would love to see what looks you can come up with.
